Hello, this article guide you how to download and install games or mod apps from our website without any problem. The instructions are quite simple, so even if you are not tech-savvy, you can easily grasp them.

What is APK? Why do you need it?

apk modair

First you need to know that to install a game or app, you need their APK file. Some games need an extra file called OBB. You can simply understand they are where the game data is stored. They are compressed as a file with the extension *apk or *obb. When you unzip the APK file on your device, it is unzipped and the game is installed.

The question is why to use APK when I can install games easily from Play Store with one click. That's right, if you want to install apps natively, go to the Play Store to get it. However, when you want to play mods, you definitely need the APK file. Besides, many very useful applications such as AdGuard, Youtube Vance, but cannot be available on the app market because they violate policies from Google. So the only way for you to use these apps is to install it using the APK file.

Installation Instructions

After you have downloaded the APK file of the game from MODAIR, we will show you how to install it.

Install a single APK file

This is easy. Just open the APK file and click Install. The installation process usually takes a few seconds.

Important Note

  • Make sure you have allowed your device to install files from unknown sources.
  • Check it by going to Android->Security  and then looking for the “ Unknown Sources ” option to check if it is enabled or not. Illustration below.
enable unknown sources

Note that in newer Android versions, this option may be in the Privacy section . In general, you just need to type it in the search bar in Settings and you will see it.

Games and APPs with OBB

You can simply understand that OBB is the Data Files of the game or application. Most publishers try to wrap the functions and all of the app's assets in an APK file.

However, sometimes that is not possible because there are many games with too many features that make the APK file too large and it is difficult for users to update when a new version is available.

Therefore, we need the OBB file to solve this problem. OBB is similar to APK when it contains game data such as features, images, and sounds in the form of an encrypted file with the extension *OBB. Installing games with OBB is usually a bit more complicated.

Here are the specific instructions

  • You need to have the necessary files available to install the game. It consists of an APK file and an OBB file (usually a ZIP or RAR compressed).
  • There is a tool available for decompression, which is also often built into file managers.
  • First, install the APK file as usual.
  • Extract the OBB file to get the folder containing the OBB file. I'll call it A. It's usually in the form com.(game name).(developer name). After seeing that folder, extract it under the path  SdCard/Android/OBB/ . The correct result should be “ SdCard/Android/OBB/folder A ”.

Note that if you do this step wrong, the game will definitely not run.

✅ Done. Open the game and enjoy.

Quick example: If you want to install Free Fire MOD, you need to do the following steps:

  • Download the APK and OBB file and save it to your device
  • Install the APK file.
  • Extracting the OBB file, you get a folder named  com.dts.freefireth . Now move it to the folder SdCard/Android/OBB/ . The correct result is android/OBB/com.dts.freefireth.

✅ Done. Open the game and you can play it.

Install APKs file

This is Google's new format for developers. In a nutshell, an APK file is a collection of many single APKs. When you unzip it, small APK files will be obtained. Installation is also quite simple. Please do the following:

  • Download and install Split APKs Installer (SAI). This app does not require root.
  • Open it, select Install APKs, and then browse to the APKs file you downloaded and saved in your device.
  • Click Install and then wait a bit to finish.

Common mistakes and how to fix them

We get tons of questions about problems with failed installation of games. Some questions the question is solvable; some not due to various reasons. Here are the installation errors and our suggestions for fixing it.

1. Error "app not installed"

This setting is simple. The cause could be:

  • You have installed this game before. Therefore, the device does not allow you to overwrite the old version. Just remove the duplicate version and reinstall it.
  • You have not turned off Play Protect. Just turn it off. Follow these steps: Open Play Store->Open Menu->Select Play Protect-> find the option "Scan device to protect security threats". By default this option is enabled, tap to disable it.
  • The APK file you selected is not CPU compatible or your device does not support this APK file.

2. Error “Download failed because you may not have purchased this app”

This error usually appears when you install a game with an OBB file. Make sure you have followed the installation steps correctly. Or maybe you forgot to use the OBB file.

If you did everything correctly, the game still won't run. The last try is to download the original version from the Play Store. Then Uninstall it then reinstall the mod.

Also, you can do some of the following if the installation fails:

  • Reboot the device
  • Clear cache
  • Disconnect from the network when playing because some games will automatically connect to the network to check the license key.

Important Note

  • Many apps require root permission to work (like titanium Backup), so if you haven't rooted your device, don't waste time with it.
  • Some apps even need Google Play Mod to run.

If you've done everything and the game still won't run, here's our final piece of advice: Upgrade your device or get a new user. Good luck!
